Meeting Opportunity Where It Is: Angel’s Journey with ReNforce

by Renforce-admin | Oct 5, 2026 | Newsletter, ReNforce Electrician Cohort

Discover how ReNforce met working mom Angel where she was to help her join our 2026 Electrician Cohort without sacrificing her current job.

Removing Real-Life Barriers to Career Growth

Balancing a full-time job while raising children is hard work. For many working parents, finding extra hours in the day to learn a new trade feels almost impossible. Traditional office hours can shut the door on growth before someone even begins.

Angel wanted to take the next step in her career. She decided to join the ReNforce 2026 Electrician Cohort. However, her demanding work schedule kept her from completing intake during standard daytime hours. Rather than letting office hours stand in her way, our Workforce Development team did something different: we went directly to Angel's workplace.

Support That Goes Beyond Our Walls

Access to opportunity should not stop at our front door. Being an extension of our participants means showing up when and where support is needed. By meeting Angel during her shift, we removed the barrier keeping her from enrolling. She completed her intake steps without having to pick between her current paycheck and her future dreams. Now, she is building new trade skills in our evening electrician classes.

Angel already brings determination, lived experience, and a strong work ethic to the table. Her story shows what human capital development looks like in real time. We are proud to walk alongside her as she trains for a rewarding trade.
